Welcome to Lexington

Originally part of Cambridge, Lexington was first incorporated in 1713. Along with Concord, Lexington played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. It was on Lexington’s Battle Green that shots were fired just after sunrise between the minutemen and British on April 19, 1775. The town continues to honor its rich history through reenactments of this pivotal battle during its annual Patriot’s Day activities. Today, Lexington has an active downtown with shops and restaurants and its public schools consistently rank among the best in the state. Lexington is located just 11 miles from Boston with easy access to Rts. 2, 2A, 4/225 and 128/95.
